My tasting tour of Bordeaux led me from the great Right Bank estates of Chateaux Cheval Blanc and Pavie, across the River Garonne to the mighty Left Bank First Growths.
The first of the 1855 legends on an itinerary shared with fellow tourist, Vin-X Commercial Director James Shakeshaft, was Chateau Haut Brion. The Chateau, now owned by Domaine Clarence Dillon and headed up by Prince Robert of Luxembourg, is under renovation so we were hosted at sister estate, Chateau La Mission Haut Brion, literally over the road.
We were privileged to be shown the beautiful, historic chapel built in 1698 set in La Mission's vineyard, prior to tasting the spectacular 2017 vintages of both Chateau Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion.
