Investment wines delivering top value
Italy’s Piedmont has produced three of the top five wine investment performers in Q3 2023. The Italian investment wines have been the least impacted by market conditions this year. Lower levels of supply, quality and rarity are driving value along with lower exposure to the unsustainability of the bull run peaks in 2022.
Bordeaux’s blue-chip fine wines have also seen an increase in demand as their liquidity and brand equity continue to appeal as safe haven investments.
The first three quarters of 2023 have been a period of adjustment in fine wine values from the market peak in October 2022. Performance benchmarks in Q3 are showing a change in pace suggesting the market could be approaching its lowest point in Q4. The next few months could certainly be a key window for wine investors.
